Potato peeling line

You can produce a perfectly peeled potato with Sormac’s potato peeling line. The capacity of this line is 4,500 kg an hour. The line processes potatoes with a diameter of 30 - 180 mm. The line is also suitable for peeling other round root vegetables, such as beetroot.
Whether you're looking for small or large-scale solutions, we customize the configuration of the potato peeling line to your needs.

Step by step

How does the potato peeling line work?

Step 1 - Potato Supply:

The storage bunker VBK offers the perfect solution for efficient storage and supply of potatoes, while also functioning as a buffer in your processing line. Optionally available is a level sensor to automatically control supply to the line and a sand catcher for optimal product quality. From this controlled supply, the potatoes are then transported to the first cleaning step.

Step 2 - Destoning the Potatoes:

In the subsequent phase, the screw destoner SO ensures that the potato peeling line is protected by effectively removing stones and sand from potatoes, resulting in significantly less wear and damage to your machines. Through an innovative water system and vertical transport screw, heavy unwanted materials are separated while the clean product is transported upward. For extra contaminated products, the round storage tank with cone offers even better sand separation, ensuring optimal product quality. After this thorough cleaning, the potatoes are ready for the first mechanical processing step.

Step 3 - Scraping the Potatoes:

Subsequently, the roller peeler CRP comes into action, which scrapes (abrasively peels) the cleaned potatoes with 12 carborundum peeler rollers. Each roller rotates at a different speed for optimal results. These are equipped with quick-release fasteners for trouble-free assembly and with toothed belt drive you are assured of efficient and reliable product processing. This pre-treatment perfectly prepares the potatoes for the next, more detailed peeling step.

Step 4 - Peeling the Potatoes:

After scraping, the knife peeler MS takes over the process, designed for continuous peeling of pre-cleaned and pre-scraped potatoes. The so-called "eyes" and pressure spots are excellently removed. The end product has a very smooth appearance and looks as if hand-peeled. With this professional finish, the potatoes are ready for the crucial quality control step.

Step 5 - Inspecting the Potatoes:

Next, the peeled potatoes go to the roller inspection table RLT. This makes visual inspection simple by rotating products 360 degrees via transport rollers with grip profile. Side-mounted waste and return chutes ensure efficient deviation processing. Only potatoes that meet quality requirements proceed to the weighing and packing phase.

Step 6 - Weighing and Packaging the Potatoes:

Finally, the process is completed with the weighing machine AFW-DB with wet bunker, which automatically weighs potatoes with a computer-controlled system. The touchscreen offers complete control over fill weight, parameters, and recipes with automatic speed adjustment for accurate weighing. The modular feed belt and 25-liter weighing container ensure efficient cyclical processing up to ±20 kg at a time, successfully completing the entire processing process.
