Sormac continues its path toward sustainable growth with the expansion of building B

Sormac, a leading specialist in vegetable processing equipment, continues to prioritize sustainability with the latest expansion of Building B, at our headquaters in Venlo, the Netherlands. From solar panels on the roof to underground rainwater harvesting systems, every aspect of the new extension reflects the company’s commitment to an environmentally responsible and future-ready operation.

576 new solar panels: surpassing 1 megawatt peak capacity

The roof of the new extension now houses 576 additional solar panels, bringing the total on Hall B to 1,378. Combined with the 1,530 panels already installed on Hall A, Sormac's solar array now totals 2,908 panels. This system boasts a total installed capacity of over 1 megawatt peak—an important step toward self-sufficiency and low-impact energy use.

Innovative rainwater collection system supports soil and reduces strain on sewers

Sustainability at Sormac goes beyond solar energy. Rainwater from the roof is collected and stored in a newly constructed 325 m³ underground infiltration basin. Combined with an existing basin, the system can now hold up to 600 m³ of water. By gradually releasing the water back into the ground, it helps reduce pressure on the sewage system and supports local groundwater levels.

ISO 14001 certification reaffirmed

In April, TÜV The Netherlands conducted its annual audit of Sormac’s environmental management processes under ISO 14001. Once again, the company received a positive assessment, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to environmental standards and continuous improvement.

Focus shifts to interior layout and preparation for production

With the building extension complete, Sormac has turned its attention to interior outfitting and preparing for production. In April, five single-girder overhead cranes were installed, each with a lifting capacity of up to 5,000 kg. These state-of-the-art systems ensure safe, efficient movement of machinery and enhance overall workflow capacity.

Sormac is proud of this milestone—not only for the operational space it provides, but for its meaningful contribution to a greener, more sustainable future.
